Our Story

We come from the Land of the Gods, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, a small Himalayan town in India where beauty is abundant, but opportunity is not.

We grew up believing success existed somewhere farther away, in bigger cities, louder rooms, and farther shores. And so we left.

We were the first generation of women in our family to leave in pursuit of better opportunities, education, and freedom beyond the mountains we called home.

But the farther we went, the more a quiet thought stayed with us: What happens to the women who cannot leave?

What about their dreams that remain confined, not because they lack potential, but because they lack access, guidance, opportunity, and support?

This realization is at the heart of Kinare.

The word Kinare has a dual meaning in Hindi. It means “shore,” a place of grounding, stability, and return. But it also represents the margins, where many women are too often pushed and overlooked.

In many ways, Kinare is about bringing the shore home.

We are working to create the conditions where women entrepreneurs have the capital and mentorship to build and scale their own businesses.

They do not have to depend on others for their prosperity. Instead, they can build through their own agency, resilience, and power.

Kinare exists so that the dreams once forced to leave these mountains behind can finally find the means to grow within them.
